Rising gold prices bring back old jewellery to market
A
price push-up in gold has increased the entry of recycled gold in the
Indian market. In the first three quarters of 2012, the country
recycled 89 tonne of gold as against 36 tonne in the same period last
year. Market sources said a large portion of recycled gold has come
from farmers who have offloaded it to meet rising input costs. Read

The Origin of Claddagh Rings
The Claddagh Ring is a ring that belongs to the “Fede group”. The word “fede” comes from an Italian phrase, “mani in fede”, which means 'hands joined in loyalty' or 'faith'. Claddagh rings date back to Roman times when the gesture of the clasped hands symbolised pledging vows, meaning that these rings were used as wedding and engagement rings throughout medieval Europe. At British Jewellery Workshops we have a nice selection of Claddagh rings which you can view on our website.

Celtic jewellery
When I finally got home last night I had a really good think
about the types of jewellery I like. The first type of jewellery that came to
my mind was Celtic jewellery. I just love the intricate work and design that
goes into creating the brilliant patterns on Celtic rings etc. I asked myself
if I knew the history of Celtic jewellery and where it originated, but I didn't
know. After a few minutes of researching Celtic jewellery I found a really good
website that briefly describes the history of Celtic jewellery making. I
thought it might be a good idea to share this on our blog - http://www.simplyirish.com/celtic-jewelry-history.asp
